A BETTER LIFE FOR THE POPULATION OF BBAKASA AND NAMOOMBA, ZAMBIA
10 years ProjectsNow
ProjectsNow is a Dutch foundation consisting of ten members, who help two small villages in Southern Zambia: Bbakasa and Namoomba. For ten years now we make the lives of the few thousand people who live in the region a tiny bit better. We do that with the kind support of our donors and participants of the activities we organize in the Netherlands.
ProjectsNow is active in four fields:
All our efforts to improve the quality of education. Most of our efforts are focused on Bbakasa Basic School, that we extended with two classrooms, a library and teachers housing. In addition to that, we invest in adult training.
By converting an existing building into a clinic and building two staff houses, we can provide basic healthcare in the area to approximately 5,000 people living within a two-hour walk from the clinic. Recently we finished building a Maternity Ward, that provides a place for women to give birth. One room in the Maternity Ward is destined for providing dental care.
NATURE & ENVIRONMENT
All efforts to improve the water supply and make the area greener. Especially the water supply in the area has improved. Making the area greener is a bigger challenge, because many trees are cut for charcoal production.
WORK & INCOME
By providing microcredits and funding training, we try to increase economic activity in the area. We have provided microcredits to seventeen residents. This has improved economic activity in the area. The first loans have now been repaid.
ProjectsNow was founded in 2007 by a group of Amsterdam friends. They felt the need to give back to society. Not just by collecting and donating money. But also by actively organizing projects that help improve the lives of people, who are worse off than we. Not soon, but immediately: NOW.
We set up small-scale projects in the fields of education, health, environment and work. In the Netherlands we organize activities and try to recruit donors in order to get the necessary funding. We all do this next to our jobs, this way ensuring that every euro is awarded to our project.
